The RR 312 1078 enlarged the 312 R engine to 1078 cc by widening the bore, and added a slipper clutch, close-ratio gearbox, Brembo monobloc front brakes and revised suspension settings. Styling changes were modest: new decals, a smoked screen and shorter angled exhaust outlets.
